Amazing Race follow-up
Adam and I went to the US Open on Thursday (post on that topic to follow shortly). We drove to Summit (about 30min from my mom's house) and then caught NJTransit in to Penn Station. From there, we took the subway to Flushing Meadows -- driving would have been extremely stressful, and since they are building the new mets stadium, probably longer... there were two subway options to get to Flushing Meadows - either catch the 7 from Times Square, or take the E train and transfer to the 7 in Queens. I decided (since I know the subway better from my stint living in NYC) that we would transfer at Times Square, since it would be easier. Well, I made the mistake of thinking that the A/C/E (8th Ave) subway would drop off at Times Square (we needed to take the 1,2,3 for this option). So, we end up on the E and when the next stop is the Bus Terminal and not Times Square, I realize my mistake and figure, well, we'll just stay on this until Queens and then transfer there - plan B. Just before the doors close, Adam comments that we are going uptown and we're going the wrong direction to do that. I panic, and say we should get off. Once the train goes by, I realize that we needed to go uptown to get to Queens, and we were on the right train all along. Luckily, no big deal and we catch the next E which comes about 10min later -- I'm annoyed that I didn't trust my instincts, but we didn't loose much time.
On the way back, we opt to go the same way we came - 7 Local to E.... Adam again questions which train I'm taking, because the train says its going to Chambers St (near the WTC) and not Manhattan. Our random discussion on the train turns to the Amazing Race and I tell him that if we were on the show that we would be close to getting eliminated a couple of times because I would trust his navigational judgement but then we would end up loosing in the final, because that would be the ONE TIME that he would be right about directions and I stubbornly wouldn't believe him. Pretty funny.... I', still annoyed that I let him second-guess my decision to stay on the E on our way to the Open. What the heck is matter with me???
