And the saga continues...
So I just got back from seeing the house on Kimball again, BUT I was supposed to be seeing 1925, the one that we could afford, not 1931, the model unit that is 70K over our price limit. Apparently, the construction guys were supposed to be there and were going to let us in. Instead, J (our realtor) and I walked through the model unit and went through the available options that would likely be excluded from our unit. J had sent me the list of specifications yesterday, and the list of things that will remain, is pretty impressive. We don't loose the jacuzzi tub or the two fireplaces, which is nice. The island isn't included in every unit though, neither are the wainscoating, crown molding, and some appliance upgrades.
We are seeing the place on Saturday with some of our parental units. Adam and I feel strongly that we won't put down an offer until they give us access to "our" unit. Also, we have decided that we would likely make a full-price offer, but ask for some "free" options. I would really like the island thrown in and Adam would like the detail work option around the master fireplace. Maybe we will add another one or two.
We don't want to come off as greedy, but it is in their interest to get the first unit sold. And they will use us (married young professionals) as a selling point when they try to sell the other units. We feel like we are worth a few extra upgrades.
