I just can't stomach it....
Today, I read an article in the NY Times about the CNN/YouTube debate and decided it would be something worth watching. Adam was surprised in my interest, since I can only stomach about 10 min of Meet the Press, and excited that we would watch together.... We sat down to over dinner.... its only halfway through and I couldn't continue watching... I have such a short tolerance for politics... nobody gives a direct answer, well, that's not true - the no-name candidates were much more straightforward, but they had to comment each time that they weren't getting asked as many questions as the others. And for some reason, they are showing everyone's political ads throughout the debate. What the heck!!!!
We've been impressed with some of the questions that people have submitted. Others, naturally, are obvious and lame.... I think my favorite came from a reverend that questioned why politicians cite religious reasons for not supporting gay marriages.... the country has overcome slavery and other items that were written in the bible, why lean on religion on this topic (I'm not doing the question justice - I'll try and hunt down the YouTube link). I think Anderson Cooper did a really good job of keeping people on topic.... Hillary, Obama, and Edwards each had questions that I thought they handled extremely well..... Looking forward to reading a synopsis of the debate in tomorrow's NYTimes. I can't stomach the second half of the debate - even as an alternative to studying!!!!
Time to hit the books - tomorrow is my first lecture/session.
Update: Jon Stewart was extremely on point tonight summerizing the debate. I went on YouTube and found the link to the question and answer about religion/'gay marriage asked by that reverend.

Why is it still acceptable to use religion to deny gay Americans their full and equal rights?
