No Reservations - Big Disappointment!
Adam & I enjoyed a very nice "date night" on Friday - something we haven't done in ages. We went for a quick happy hour drink at a new Spanish tapas bar, then went to dinner at a teeny-tiny Italian BYOB that we have never been able to get a table at, and then we went to the movies to see "No Reservations" starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and the girl from "Little Miss Sunshine". I felt like we were such city dwellers, everything we went to was just a few blocks from one another, and less than 10 blocks from our apartment... it is definitely an evening we will need to repeat in the future.
The movie was a big disappointment, however. This was especially a bummer because we haven't been to the movies in ages, 3+ years easy. Both of us wanted to see it - actually, I was surprised in Adam's interest in the movie since it was a romantic comedy. It centered around chefs in a restaurant though, and I think he was expecting to see some swanky kitchen moves he could adopt in our own kitchen. The movie had bad character development and it was difficult to believe that the characters formed the relationships that they did. We were also hoping that the food would play a more prominent role in the film. No Reservations is actually a remake of a German film with a similar plot - I just added it to Netflix and am curious if the original film is better... stay tuned.
