Out of Line? Probably, but I don't Care.
Vox is being difficult at work again and I'm having trouble posting.....
On Thursday morning I get in the elevator with the boss of my department. I'm grouchy because I just read the email about this report getting possibly pushed back until Monday.
Sidebar: His nickname around the floor is BR-man, which, unfortunately stands for 'backrub" because he tried to give me one, earlier this year - ICK doesn't even begin to explain it!!!!) Anyway, our entire department doesn't like him and he doesn't have much support within the firm - I've got a $20 bet with someone that he's fired by Thanksgiving. He's constantly saying inapprorpiate things and is a sexual harrassment nightmare -- its a long story, and one that I've been avoiding.... he plays obvious favorites to the women (we pay a price, trust me) and its tough for a few of the all-men teams in our office to get the resources they need to successfully do their job.
So, later in the day on Thursday he comes over and tells me that he's decided to invite the department out to happy hour to cheer me up and because he hasn't invited the group out in awhile. I tell him that the report we're working on still needs work, so my junior and I can't really leave at 4:30pm. He responds that he will have to take the two of us out seperately (UGH!). And I respond, "Actaully, what would really be a help is if you took our new intern our to lunch." As he responded "Of course" (he does this with each new intern), I say "So, next time you go trolling around for a lunch date, keep him in mind" -- You should have seen the look on his face!!! He's always trying to take one of us to lunch, so he can expense it... we've all grown tired of hearing how he "tries to get as much work done in a day, so he works through lunch to be more productive".
Kind of funny that I can get away with saying something like that. There's only one other person in the office that talks this blunty with BR and that's my old boss (the one that I worked with when I first joined the firm, who tried to have me fired -- we've gotten over it and see eye-to-eye on a lot). Neither one of us fears BR and don't put up with his crap.....
TROLLING was really the perfect word choice, but wow, I can't believe I actually said it!
