It's missing the new Comcast building being built just a block from us - been such a delight hearing construction noises starting around 6:30 every morning for the last TWO YEARS! Should have been done already - I think they are close.

Yesterday, while I was running some errands at lunch, I stopped in to get some tea - one of my favorite errands. I think I may have a tea addiction! I came back with Black Tea w/ Strawberries and Citris Earl Grey. My favorites are still Black w/ Cranberry Orange and Blueberry Mango Sencha, but the new ones are delicious.
Check out my drawer of tea! With my electric teapot and electric cup warmer, I have a great tea-setup!
Men just don't appreciate shoes.... so, it was very anti-climatic this morning, when I came in wearing my new, hip shoes, and had no one to talk about them with... The Retail Analyst is a woman and we love to chat about sales and clothes, but she's not in yet.

Yeah, had a nice shoe-chat with the Retail gal. AND, she said that Ann Taylor started their fall sale 10 days earlier than normal - so handy to have her around!!!

]]>Mondays I have my weekly session with my personal trainer at the gym. That sentence sounds a bit snotty/superior and I don't know why. I've decided to shell out the money for a weekly session because it is the ONLY way to drag my sorry butt to the gym - I look at it as an INVESTMENT in my health -- hey, whatever it takes....
So, anyway. My trainer V is very cool and the hour flies by as we chitchat. This week, she was telling me about this female client she has that drives her nuts. This woman is always making comments like "I bet none of your other clients do this exercise using this much weight". V says that it really makes this client angry when she replies "Actually, one or two do use a heavier weight". Turns out, V is always referring to me when she responds! YEAH ME! Last week I had an amazing session and we actually upped the weights I was using on three different exercises - I found it very empowering; a nice ego boast. How rewarding to be able to lift more weights than I did previously -- it was never a competition with anyone else, but of personal growth..... Wow, I sound very unlike me just now.
So, this client has been bugging V the last couple of week to disclose stuff about this client that can lift more weight (me)... Am I fit, old, train more often... on and on with the questions.... Strikes me as so odd that this woman is turning weight training into a competition - with a person she knows nothing about! I found the whole thing pretty funny. Towards the end of my session V says "Oh my gosh, that's the client I was talking about". We could feel her glare during the rest of my session, which was thankfully only 5 min. I found it pretty amusing.
Under my love handles is a a freakishly fit chick! Don't mess with me, apparently, I'm strong!!!
]]>It's hard to believe, but today is my one year anniversary on VOX -- how cheesy that I know that?!?! Hard to believe that I have written almost 320 posts in just one year --- wow, seems I don't get as much done at work that I think I do!
It's actually very cathartic (sp?) to think back.... never would I have imagined that I would be where I am today... for starters, why the heck are we still in Philly??? We had made the very difficult decision back in July '06 to move to Manhattan... hard to believe that we are still enjoying Philly life.... and even more surprising, we are still living in the very same apartment. LUCKILY!!!! It has been quite the journey that we have been on.
I read somewhere that the average blog-lifespan is 3 months, so I am patting myself on the back that this website is stil alive. I find it very enjoyable to post my random musing and extremely rewarding to learn that people are actually reading what I write (thank you Lee Ann, Sarah, and Jen!) Also, oddly enough, while at first it bothered me, it's nice to know that the families that piss me off the most (did I really just say that???) are the ones that DON'T read my blog, so it's OK I b*tch about them here! How awful does that sound now??? Lee Ann/Ken -- Isn't it good that we get along so well ;-) It's Adam"s "other family" that drives me bonkers....
So, I wanted to sound very introspectic and intelligent to commemorate this milestone, but really I'm left wondering "Are there any typos?"
Thank you to all of you that read my ramblings.... I truely find this blog a great way to vent and procrastinate. I hope that this time next year, my blog is still going strong.
]]>As many of my friends know, I am unapologetic in my dislike towards bridal and baby showers and don't make excuses for why I will not be attending. It's harder to avoid them of course, when its for a family member.
Yesterday, we spent the day with Adam's family celebrating the upcoming arrival of our neice. I was a bit leary about the whole thing, since its a bit unusual throwing a baby shower for over 75 people (so many presents to watch be opened!!!), but I had a nice time and managed to avoid my MIL, which was a relief.
Although incredibly humid, a fun day was had by all.
]]>So many new and interesting shows are starting.... so little time to watch TV AND study!!!!!
Currently being recorded for us...... Weeds, Kid Nation, Top Chef, Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares, Beauty & the Geek, and Biggest Loser.
Luckily, My Boys and The 4400 just ended and Top Chef is almost over.... plenty to get added as replacements though. Grey's Anatomy, Project Runway, and ER start soon and I think we're going to give LOST another chance. Amazing Race will probably be coming back shortly as well. AND, I keep hearing good things about Califonication, Ugly Betty, Big Love, and Brothers & Sisters.... Looks like our DVR is going to get full pretty quickly! Maybe its time to scale back our Netflix subscription for a little while.

]]>I am an avid NY Times reader and enjoy starting my morning each day with some perusing. The following is part of a movie review for Good Luck Chuck, that was too funny not to share.... doesn't look like this movie is even worth Netflix-ing.
But the main audience for this dim little sex comedy has no particular interest in seeing Ms. Alba act. They want to see her in her underwear and also to confront one of the central cultural questions of our time: will she take her top off?
No spoilers here! In the meantime plenty of less famous women do take their tops off, which will make “Good Luck Chuck” a must-see for young men with a subscription to Maxim but no access to the Internet. The intended viewership seems to consist of guys who fantasize about sleeping with Ms. Alba, which may represent a reasonably large share of the population.

So, in early September, I wrote about my neighbors that liked to get frisky, LOUDLY, around 11pm (right when we were trying to go to sleep) on a pretty frequent basis... that week they had been particularly into one another, but since then, we were only hearing them about once a week - not sure if they happen to wait until we are asleep or what....
That is, until last night.... It's about 11:30 and I hear them going at it.... For some reason, a little after midnight, I am still awake -- all of the sudden, I hear the girl SHREIKING!!! Round two. I couldn't take it anymore and decided to thump loudly on the wall.... I didn't really give it any thought... it was just my knee-jerk reaction - the straw that broke the camel's back.
All went quiet.
In the middle of my banging Adam hollered (Cut it out) -- seems that I woke him.... so, I probably got their attention..... If they didn't know we could here them before, they sure do now.... will be interesting to see if they enjoy one another more quietly going forward....
Still tempted to leave them an "anoymous" note -- even though, its hard to be subtle/undercover, when you are the only apartment that they share a wall with...

What a tough question... in Germany, it is always great drinking the local microbrews, but I don't really know any of them by name... here in Philly, I like to go with either a Stella or a Hoogarten, depending on my mood.
