It's Sunday - when we are home, that means, reading the NYTimes, a tasty egg breakfast, and Adam watching Meet the Press (which he is doing now) while I flee to another room in the house....

In the paper today was an article about this blooger who just got a book deal.  I got a link to this blogged forwarded to me a few weeks ago and his page is pretty amusing.

Men... trust me, you just want to ignore this post.

So, I get this daily email of funny web-videos.  I don't watch them religously, but occasionally they are pretty comical.  It is mostly SNL clips and old commercials.  As I am watching today's (video below), my creepy, always socially-inappropriate boss walks by....

He stops in my doorway and asks how I'm doing.  I stop the video to chat with him.  He asks what I am watching, I reply "stupid crap".  He asks to see to watch, I say "I don't think it would be appropriate".  Then he walks around my desk to see my screen (I have already minimized by now).  He persists in watching with me and I finally have to say "It's about feminine products".  

Dude - once I say it woudn't be appropriate, you should stop persisting!!!!  Idiot.  I got a big kick out of him turning beet red as he left my office......

When you were little, how old did you think you'd be when you got married? Were your predictions accurate?

I don't think I ever had any assumptions about how old I would be when I got married - I wasn't one of those girls that played dress-up and imagined what their wedding would be like.  I was the girl in the backyard climbing a tree and beating the boys in races around the jungle gym.  

I think it's funny (and perfectly natural) that you expect to do something similar to what your parents did and mimic how you were raised.  My mom was 24/25 when she got married, had me when she was 27 and was done having kids before she turned 30.  I did always think that I'd be done having kids by the time I was 30.  As I got older I assumed I'd probably have my first kid before I'm 30.  Now, my answer on the kid topic is "Talk to me after I turn 30" -- going to need to come up with something soon, since that reply will only work for another couple of months.  I would like to be done having kids by the time I'm 35-36 -- who knows if that changes down the road.

I doesn't sound like Adam ever made any assumptions about when he would get married - but he did make mention a few months ago about having kids that were 4-5 years apart.  I thought that he was nuts, because by the time you get the first one off to kindergarten you are back to square one with kiddie number 2.  Adam thought this was completely valid and responded "yeah, how did my mom manage?" -- he had thought about having the kids spaced that far apart because that's how HE grew up.

I need to send my bio & a photo to someone for this panel I am speaking on in June... In Oklahoma City - fun times!  My exisiting bio photo is pretty old, at least three years, since I took it with my old boss.  So, FINALLY, today, I wore a suit in to the office so I can get an updated "glamour" shot. 

Here are the two shots - old one on the left (probably from 2004 or 2005) today's on the right.... Is it just me, or does it look like the shape of my face has changed???  Must be the angle.... 

I just noticed something pretty funny...... I am wearing the same shirt in both photos!!!

Our final intern candidate accepted our offer to join us.  FIINALLY, the intern hiring process is OVER.  And, FINALLY, we got one of the strongest candidates to join our team, instead of always having the weakest link!

What was your last injury?

 I am a klutz, Capital K.  I am constantly black & blue and usually don't have a clue how I injured myself.  My personal trainer has finally learned to stop asking me about bruises she sees on my legs when I work out.  So, the last time I injured myself?  probably this morning getting ready, I banged into a wall, a door, tripped over a shoe, etc....  Last major injury, thankfully, was too long ago for me to recollect..... 

I foolishly forgot that lately I have been slicing open my fingers lately.  These new knives we got for Xmas are nice, but man, I'm surprised I haven't sliced off a finger tip yet.  Just on Sunday I poked myself, and that was just doing the dishes!

Finally took the time to stop in my local tea store.  I've run out of three different teas in the last few weeks and have been too swamped to get away.

Today I bought an old favorite - Blueberry/Mango (green); and three new ones - Exotic Fruit (black), tangerine (white tea), and, Raspberry & Black Currant (green/white tea).... a nice diverse smattering of flavors.  Yum!

My Associate just sent me this link about a new building that is going to be built in Philly.  RIGHT BEHIND our apartment building.  See the little building behind the silver one that you can barely see???  That's our building (I tried to add an arrow to the photos, but I suck at graphic design and gave up after 10 min).

For those of you that visited us in Philly - this building is going on the lot, right behind our building that we have vistors park in.  All that will stand between us and this monstrosity is a little alley.  It's time to MOVE!!!!

This week has been killer.... and there is still another day to go.  Actually, two - since I already know that I have to work on Saturday.  Yes, the dreaded earnings season is upon me once again.  And this time, I get to add conference planning and intern interviewing to the mix. 

Yes, intern interviewing is STILL going on.  As an added bummer, my two favorite picks accepted offers this week, before we even had a chance to bring them in, my #3 interviewed today and was a big flop.  So, once again, there is a chance that I am going to put the most work into our internship program and could still end up the intern-dud.  It's happened twice already, so why not going for a hat trick?  HOPEFULLY, we find the gem in the rough.  We narrowed down the final group to 10 (out of an initial pool of 90+) so there must be one decent choice in the bunch!  Unfortunately, the Dickinson kids didn't fare well against the Finance majos at other schools.  Liberal Arts degrees do have there place, but its an uphill battle in our accoutning/finance driven business. 

I have already  decided to give up this responsibility going forward.  Honestly, the free dinner that Adam and I get as a "reward" for me putting in all this effort just isn't cutting it.  A $100 dinner for 100+hrs that end up benefitting everybody else more than myself?  Its just not worth it.  How about an extra 5K?  Then, maybe.  Unfortunately, that seems unlikely.  It's become increasingly clear to me that I am the only team-player in my department (that's a whole other story).... every one else is just looking out for themself.  Until things get better, I need to start doing the same. 

So, that's my life these days......  been getting in to work before 7am, leave after 6pm, enjoy an hour or two with Adam, and then 2+ more hours in front of the computer..... the nightmare ends next Wednesday.... but not really.  Our conference is in early April, and I have a big report to get out beforehand.  So, life is lgoing to be a complete zoo for another three weeks again. 

That exam I was going to take... um, yeah.  What?  Not very likely right now.  Thankfully, Adam has been super suppportive, and has picked up a lot of slack at home.  How do people (women) that have this job balance their other responsibilities when they have kids?  I honestly don't know.....
