Two weekends ago, we went camping/kayaking with our "outdoor" friends. They were planning on getting there around 3pm and Adam and I were shooting for 6pm. Adam and I unexpectedly got to the campsite well ahead of them, because one of them got held up at work. We cracked open our first beer, set up camp and got to work building a fire. Less than 5min after we got down and sat down to enjoy the fire, it dawned on Adam that he had left the illegal space heater in his office on. He insisted on driving back to Philly (between 1.5-2hrs away) to turn it off, because he would be worried about it all weekend.
So, he left me by myself at the campsite. Luckily, I had full power on my cell phone, so I proceeded to call everyone whose phone number I had - only my buddy Malps in AZ actually picked up and chatted with me. I had a lot of trouble keeping the fire lit (I promise never to make fun of Adam's fire-making skills again) and had only the citronelle candle for light. There weren't any campsites around us being used, so I couldn't make any friends in his absence. Having forgotten a flashlight, I had to use my cell phone to help me get to the facilities - after 3 beers, it became a real crisis moment!
In a moment of boredom, I practiced using the 10 second timer on my new swanky camera.....
My friends didn't show until after 10pm and Adam got back to the campsite after midnight - I was so happy to see them!!!
We ended up having a lovely weekend!!!
