This afternoon, Adam's grandmother passed away. Adam and his aunt arrived at the hospital during her final moments.... I know they are both very upset that they didn't get to spend some additional time with her before she passed away. Thank goodness, she wasn't in any pain and went peacefully.
I'm glad Adam decided to take the afternoon off from work to be with his family. Originally, I was going to be the one to ferry his aunt (who lives in Texas) from the Philly airport to the Lancaster hospital. After the long road taken to reconnect with his father a few years ago, I'm glad he can be there today to support him through this difficult time. And its especially nice that he (and I) had the opportunity to get to know his grandmother over the past few years.... She was quite a lady!
I consider us so fortunate to have been able to spend a weekend with them in Avalon during their annual Jersey-shore vacation last month. Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos while we were down there, which is very unlike me! This photo (below) is actully from last year. (That's a chip in her hand, not a ciggie - I caught her during snack time, doesn't it look like a caught her smokin' a butt?).
Eleanor you will be missed!
I'll write more later, but here are some photos from Ken's 58th birthday, which we got to celebrate this weekend. We are so proud of Ken for learning how to use the Rabbit wine opener (top photo) -- even if the first try almost resulting in the bottle landing on the floor. Turns out you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!
I was SO excited to receive my belated birthday present from the Comegys family last week. Unfortunately, he is unphotogenic, and this is the best photo of him I could get. After enjoying a week of promenance on our kitchen table, he is now at home by the windows and his new plant friends, Stanley, Flo, and Myrtle. But, our poor little guy is nameless! Tammy, think up a good name for him (don't know why, but I have decided he's male!).
On Sunday, we had the opportunity to spend some quality time with the Comegy family. What a treat! I think my favorite part of the day was taking a walk outside behind their neighborhood. I hope we will get to do that more often.
Ken & LeeAnn - thanks so much for having us. We really enjoyed ourselves!
I was beginning to wonder if I was just talking to myself out here in blog-land.... until yesterday when I got an email from LeeAnn commenting on one of my postings. THANK YOU LEEANN! I feel much less crazy now.
Still working on getting Adam to post something - maybe today will be the day....
Just a friendly reminder to everyone to please be careful of what email address you are using when you email me & Adam. We are both trying to avoid using work email. Please email me at my gmail account and email Adam at his hotmail account.
I'll be stuck on a train tomorrow (thurs) from 6:30-8pm if anyone wants to call me to chat!
