Unfortunately, Santa is my only hope for this present, since it comes with a $1,400 sticker price. This is the dresser that matches the Armoire that I am in LOVE with. We bought the Armoire this summer using my bonus money. I'm hoping we use part of my February bonus to get the matching dresser (in the darker finish, not shown).
Today, I called Ethan Allen and odered the armoire that I have had my eyes on for ages. The salesperson we spoke to when we were in the store last, just before the townhouse fell through, actually remembered who I was.
How many people "pet" their furniture? Not many I'm guessing.
I'm so excited!!!! I've been using this crappy armoire that my dad bought (and assembled) after my parents split - I'm long overdue for an upgrade. Its a bummer that it is expected to take 8-12 weeks for delivery -- I've got my fingers crossed that it comes sooner.

]]>With the housing market looking the way it does in Philly, Adam and I have had to look at our other housing/living alternatives. I had been extremely anxious to move out of our current apartment, because I was just sick of living there and figured that since we were packed anyway, we might as well. With the apartment finally feeling more settled, I'm not as anxious anymore - might as well enjoy the short commute as long as I can! Part of the deal I struck with Adam in agreeing to stay put in our current pad was that we would finally make some furniture investments. We had been holding off on getting furniture until we had our new place, but I don't want to wait anymore. I feel like we have been living with "just out of college" furniture for too long now. First on the list, is this Armoire from Ethan Allen that I have been in love with for ages!!!!
My favorite day of the long weekend was definitely Sunday. Adam and I spent the day restoring some order to our packed, in-limbo apartment. I had wanted to do this weeks ago, but just wasn't mentally ready to throw-in the towel and admit defeat (that we were going to be stuck living here). Next weekend I am away and the following weekend we have a bunch of friends staying with us, so this was the time to get this project done.
At this point, we are planning on living in our current apartment until we find a house to buy, and are mentally prepared for this to take until next Spring. It was time to unpack things that we use with some degree of frequency and make the place look more like home. Not only did we unpack some of the things we use often (mainly kitchen stuff), we also reorganized the boxes that are still packed, hung some things back on the walls, and finally threw away that skanky couch!!!

GOODBYE COUCH!! It was actually a bit of a battle to get rid of this puppy - Adam wanted to hold on to it - why? I'm not quite sure. The living room felt HUGE once we finally got the couch out.

On Saturday we played at Home Depot and two furniture stores - we were trying to get a feel for what "our" style is. It's been difficult to tell up to this point since the majority of our furniture has been hand-me downs -- I guess that means our style has been "free".
Since we will not have an island in our kitchen -- we really wanted one, but the developer didn't sound like he would throw it in as a freebie and there isn't a lot of room for one either in our version of the townhouse -- we liked the idea of a raised kitchen table. The table is island-height. It seems that this is a popular thing, since we saw lots of choices. This will probably be one of the first things we buy.
Tomorrow I am going with the developer to pick out our granite colors. Gotta say, I'm a little nervous that Adam has entrusted me with this decision (Actually, I'm only the one going because I can get out of work in the middle of the day), because he has much stronger opinions about color that I do. Cross your fingers that I pick something he likes!
