I just had to share... ENJOY!!!!
Adam pointed out this funny article in The Onion that I have been meaning to link too.... funny
Here's an excerpt: According to reports, Svoboda's wife of seven years, Linda Svoboda, was visiting her sister in Kansas City when an unexpected auto repair emergency left her stranded there for three days. Her drive home delayed indefinitely, she was unable to provide Svoboda with life-giving foodstuffs for over 72 hours.
Although police and investigative authorities are still gathering data, early reconstructions indicate that Svoboda, 31, ran out of the pre-prepared sack lunches and frozen spaghetti dinners his wife had left him before her trip at approximately 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, probably during the local telecast of the Prairieville/Dunston high school football game.
I couldn't stop giggling after I read it.... Its especially funny when you think about how my colleague's wife was worried about feeding him when she was away, as was I when I left Adam solo for an extended business trip.
Adam and I are becoming friends with one of the Associates I work with R, and his wife, E. They enjoy going out to dinner, they live in the city, and they don't have kids.... Finally a couple we can hang out with!
When E went away for a week and a half to Europe on a vacation without R, she foolishly dragged him grocery shopping to stock the fridge so R wouldn't starve in her absence. About halfway through the week R shared with me that he hadn't eaten any of the food she had made them buy and instead was eating PB&J and takeout. So, Adam and I had him over for Sunday dinner - veal marscala, yummy!
So now it looks like I'm going to be out of town for almost a week in early June. When I mentioned this to Adam his response was "Wow, that's a lot of chinese food". That's pretty much all Adam eats when I'm out of town - chinese food and pizza. There's no point in trying to fight him on this. I know that when I get home from a business trip, there will be take out in the fridge. I'm never normally gone for more than 2 nights at a time, so it's never a big deal. This time around though, I will be gone from Sat thru Wed (possibly Thursday).
I emailed E today and asked if she could have Adam over for dinner one night while I'm gone. She replied that she'd be happy to have him over and then wrote this gem: You know...getting married is a lot like getting a dog. Whenever you leave on a trip, you have to get things lined up for them so that they are taken care of. haha!! Don't tell R I said that!
So, instead of telling the story here at work, I thought I would share in internet-land.
We got a big kick out of this in the office this morning.... This is a pretty accurate description of how our bonuses get doled out. Research bonuses are determined using a variety of metrics including the amount our salesforce likes you, how often you publish research, votes by clients, performance of your stocks (compared to their rating), and the amount of investement banking business you generate....
