Kids are so much cuter when they aren't yours... and if you only spend a few hours with them. How cute are these two? These are my nephews that are both about 15 months old (and were born only 8 days apart).
This is how Papa & Adam spent the majority of Julian's birthday. Hmmm.... looks like we will be getting a fusse(sp?)-table for our basement as soon as we have a house! I couldn't put up a photo of Anton & Eric without putting up some photos of their big brother/sister. There sure will be a lot of kiddies running around by the time Nicole & I add to the bunch.
I read this excerpt this morning in a NYTimes article that was talking about NJ Governor Corzine's State of the State Address.
He {Corzine} also said he had learned that “Jersey girls don’t pump gas” — a reference to his short-lived and highly unpopular proposal to introduce self-service gas pumps to the state — one of only two that still shun the practice.
I just find this statement hilarious! I don't get it - what's the big deal about pumping your own gas? Maybe I have just lived in PA too long - I guess I can no longer consider myself "A Jersey Girl" anymore.
One of the biggest reasons my mom was looking forward to me visiting was so I could help her figure out all of the electronics in the house... while I was there we figured out the control panel for the heat, reviewed how to work her cable box, played with my digital camera, futzed with the fan, and figured out how to connect to her new internet email address..... I was playing second fiddle to Adam, the electronic wizard, but managed to hold my own. Here are some photos of my mom playing up the occasion...
On Friday night we attended the wedding of my good friend Brian. Some of you may remember him as being the one who gave the funny speech at our wedding. Unfortunately, I didn't get the opportunity to speak at his wedding, but I didn't come up with anything witty to say anyway, so it wasn't a big deal.
The second photo is of Brian (on the right) with his brother and sister. We ended up sitting at the "fun table", which included his siblings and some people I went to high school with that Brian has kept in touch with, but I haven't. They were a riot and we both really enjoyed ourselves.
On Saturday, while Adam was at Scott's bachelor party, I enjoyed an evening of dinner and drinks with two of our Philly friends. We had such a nice evening... I am really looking forward to staying put in Philly -- cross
your fingers that everything falls into place!!!
This morning, I woke up for what is hopefully the last time to catch the 5:52am train to NYC -- getting up at 5am is brutal!
I admit it.... I'm playing!
This weekend we went up to Jersey for Jerry's (no longer a) surprise 30th birthday BBQ. On Friday night we spent the night at my mom's new condo. Adam was put to work helping my mom get her phone, computer, and TV in order. We got a big kick out of showing Mom how to work her new digital cable (on the cool flat screen TV - which Adam hooked up last time we were in town).
I got a bit of a scolding from my boss on Friday (that's a whole other topic), so I had to work part of the day Saturday and then again on Sunday afternoon when we got back to Philly. At least I was comfortable working in what Mom has dubbed "the Treehouse" Her kitchen table is in a nice little alcove surrounded by leafy trees.
Here's a nice photo of Lynn & Jerry - you may remember them for the engagement party. They are also the couple that we have gone camping & canoeing with in the past.
On Sunday, we were supposed to go bike riding with the Bromfield clan, but rainy weather cancelled our plans. Notice the lack of anything remotely rain-like in the following two photos. Instead, we spent the day relaxing in Montville, playing proud "Tante Heike" and "Uncle Adam" to Caroline and "Drool-man" aka Erik (unfortanately, I didn't take any photos of the kiddies, but Margit did. We also gave Molly (our Honda Civic) some much needed TLC. Thanks Papa for the help!
