What are your Sunday rituals?
With very busy lives and four families to juggle every weekend is different. And boy, do we have some action-packed weekends planned already for this year.
On those Sunday mornings that we do wake up at home, I guess we do have a ritual. Whoever wakes up first grabs the NYTimes, my fave, that lands conveniently outside our apartment door. We read the paper until 10:30. Then, Adam turns on Meet the Press. I stomach that for maybe 10-15min and then decide its time to turn on the computer. I can only stomach politicians talking out of their asses for a very short while. Breakfast is usually eggs & bacon with rye bread or a very tasty breakfast sandwich.....
After that, all bets are off... no more rituals by the time noon hits.
How do you feel about your birthday? Do you look forward to it and remind all your friends, or do you dread it and try to keep it a secret?
Hmmm.... normally, something in between. Celebrating birthdays when I was younger was tough because my birthday was in the dead of summer, so it was always hard to gather friends for a party... that and I didn't have a lot of friends in middle school.
My former boss/mentor's birthday was the day after mine and the two of us would go out for a birthday lunch each year, which was a nice tradition. Last year, we used my birthday as an excuse to go bar-hopping with some college friends and then we spent a lovely Sunday afternoon with my mom.
Adam used to be very protective of sharing his birthday with anyone. A strange habit he picked up from his older brother that I can't explain or rationalize. Since we've been together that's largely subsided.
This year I plan on going all out. Adam's bday is less than two weeks before mine and I plan on throwing ourselves a bash at a bar in Philly. I think 3-0 is a big deal.... and, if we throw a party, we won't have to visit each of the four families for a birthday celebration.
We have a lot of friends turning 30 this year, and I know of at least three friends from college that also have bdays in the summer. Looks like 30th birthday parties this year will be similar to the wedding insanity that happened in 2005.

YOU ARE GETTING A RAISE!!!
Can you tell that year-end reviews are on my mind? Unfortunately, I don't think a raise in my future this time around.
What are you saving up for?

My original answer to this would have been vacations and homeownership.
Looks like me new answer is: UNCLE SAM!
How do you want 2008 to be different from 2007? What will you change or do differently?

By the time I hit the BIG 3-0 in July, I'd like to be 15-20lbs lighter and have quit smoking. Time to stop drinking wine on weeknights and get my butt to the gym!
We ended 2007 with minimal family drama - a huge feat for us - I hope that continues into 2008!!!
Who do you want to be caught under the mistletoe with this holiday season?

EASY!!! (this photo is actually from Dec 04)
Were your holiday cards store bought, handmade, online, TBD or MIA?
Handmade - no way!!! Who has time for that?
Normally, I don't bother with Xmas cards and they are MIA. This year is for some reason different.
I bought a bunch of cards to send to business associates (good little ass-kissing to keep the company's we follow happy). While I was at it, I got motivated to send some cards to friends as well -- Hey, if I'm writing cards to people that are just work-contacts, I should be sending cards to people I actually LIKE! I pulled out the leftover cards from last year and actually found some that I had addressed, and stamped, but never written -- how lame am I???
I still have at least 10 friend cards to send, but am otherwise done. I figure my friends won't be highly offended by receiving a card between Xmas and NYE, which is good, because that's what is likely to happen.
Pet Peeve -- I HATE cards when people don't take the time to write anything besides their & our names. Why even bother. I think that's why it I don't usually do holiday cards often. I only want to do them if I'm going to do them right (at least what I consider "right"), but that takes forever!
Between baby announcements and Xmas cards with kids on them, our fridge is quite the sight. I haven't gotten cards from a few people that are card-sending folks, so I suspect its going to get worse before it gets better.
If you could easily choose to live in another country without all the red tape and legal stuff, which one would you select and why?

This is a no brainer.... Adam and I both LOVED spending time abroad junior year. Neither of us speak German well enough to have a full time job that relies on using the language full-time, but it should would be a fabulous experience. (Adam's job doesn't even exist in Europe!) We go through periods of talking about moving abroad - England, not Germany, but the red tape and legal hurdles are tough. I could do the exact same thing I do now working in London and I would want Adam to go back to school while we were abroad. Most recently, we threw around this idea, when a colleague of mine up & moved to England this summer.
I feel like we kind of missed our opportunity to live abroad and should have done it in our mid/late 20s not as we approach 30 - a few of our friends have recently moved back to the states from having lived abroad. Not moving to Germany after I graduated from college is one of my few regrets.
What is your daily commute like? What is the weirdest thing you've seen on that commute?

I have a grueling commute.... I cross the street and turn the corner.... I'm very spoiled! Actually, as obnoxious as this will sound, I would prefer a commute that is a bit longer... get some exercise on the walk home and give me a chance to decompress after a busy workday.... during my brief stint in NYC, my commute was 15-20min, about a mile of walking, or less than that if I used the bus for part of the trip. I enjoyed walking home, getting some exercise and catching up with friends & family.
I never want to go back to the 1hr 20min+ commute I used to do to NYC fresh out of college. Ugh.
