Adam and I go through phases of having wacky saying that we holler out to one another that doesn't really make sense or have any rhyme or reason.... our latest one is to scream "Ticky Tacky!" which comes from the theme song to Weeds, which I had stuck in my head for a long time as I was catching up on previous seasons. I'm all caught up now and really enjoying watching the show once a week.
I've been on an Ugly Betty kick lately - I had no idea how awesome the show was. Even Adam doesn't mind watching an episode here and there with me. I'm about halfway through the first season. I love Selma Hayek! I made the mistake of watching this year's Season Premier, thinking "how much could I have missed in half a season"? Well, they must be on Season 3 now, because there were WAY MORE plot twists than they could have started in one season. Dumb, dumb, dumb! Thank goodness our trusty DVR will continue to tape and save, until Netflix catches me up. DVR + Netflix = TV VIEWING HEAVEN
Anyway, it's been bothering me that I recognized the character, Daniel, Betty's boss at Mode, from somewhere else. I finally went trolling (heehee) on imdb and finally figured it out. He was Jenny's boyfriend in Season 1 of the L-Word. Of course! And, he played a gay football player in Cruel Intentions...
What a perfect segway into my next topic! On Tuesday, the fourth season of the L WORD was released on DVD. Yesterday, the first DVD arrived here!!! Have I mentioned lately that I LOVE NETFLIX?? I believe the fifth season just started on Showtime - now that we get Showtime (Yeah!) I'll be able to get up to speed quick-quick!!!
Am I a little too excited about the TV shows I like? Well, I don't care!
Show us your favorite doctor.
I know, I know, she's not a "real" doctor -- but I LOVE Bailey, the character that Chandra Wilson plays on Grey's Anatomy -- I thought it was crap that she didn't win an Emmy (is that the right award?) and it went to the pretty blond who plays Izzie instead. Chandra rocks!
While I'm on the topic of Grey's Anatomy, I love that "Richard Gilmore" (no idea what the actor's real name is), is on as a first-year intern. It's a nice change of pace from the stuffy character he played on Gilmore Girls - he's doing a great job of being bumbly, loveable, intern trying to sound hip and blend in. It's a nice addition to the cast!
I came home to a DVR full of shows.... this weekend I was able to slog through 2 episodes each of Beauty & the Geek, Biggest Loser, and Kid Nation. Also got to watch the Finale of Top Chef - Can't believe that pompous ass Hung won!!! Can't believe how much I still haven't gotten around to! Grey's Anatomy and ER both still waiting for me and I am accumulating episodes of Ugly Betty and Pushing Daisies, which are shows I MIGHT be interested in watching.
Am loving the fact that I can forward through all the fluff-and-stuff. So it took no time to get through some of these programs. Not getting a lot of use out of our Netflix subscription these days though.
So many new and interesting shows are starting.... so little time to watch TV AND study!!!!!
Currently being recorded for us...... Weeds, Kid Nation, Top Chef, Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares, Beauty & the Geek, and Biggest Loser.
Luckily, My Boys and The 4400 just ended and Top Chef is almost over.... plenty to get added as replacements though. Grey's Anatomy, Project Runway, and ER start soon and I think we're going to give LOST another chance. Amazing Race will probably be coming back shortly as well. AND, I keep hearing good things about Califonication, Ugly Betty, Big Love, and Brothers & Sisters.... Looks like our DVR is going to get full pretty quickly! Maybe its time to scale back our Netflix subscription for a little while.
MUST.... STUDY!!!!
We have gotten right back into the swing of things as far as taping TV programs go.... Adam noticed on Sunday night that the DVR cut off the last few seconds of The 4400, but I didn't think too much of it.... On Monday night I wasn't up for watching the last two episodes of a show called MY BOYS that's on TBS from 10-11pm (It was the Summer Season Finale) so we taped it. The show promised a big ending in the last 30 seconds (do you see where I am going with this?).
The basic plot was that PJ, the main character, and her best friend from college were each going to find a man and the four of them would take a trip to Italy... PJ had three offers of men to go with her... in the last 30sec you were going to get to see which one she picked --- hmmm, sounds lame now that I explain it --- well, my DVR ended the program just as the camera was panning to the other airline seat! I can't believe it!!!
Update: I figured out what's going on, but I don't think I can fix it. The bedroom TV is on a bit of a delay, wither because the big TV is HD, or just because the signal has to go the extra cable length to get to the bedroom... so, this isn't something that can be fixed. With TIVO you coudl program it to start taping a little early or go a little late, but Comcast doesn't give that option.... grrr....
Second Update: I just went websurfing for the answer and learned that the show faded to black without giving an answer..... OOps, my bad! Sorry I blamed you beloved DVR!
So nice to see that someone agrees with my assessment of Tim Gunn's new TV show, Guide to Style. Over the past week I saw two episodes and I thought it was clear that they were unsuccessfully trying to recreate What Not to Wear. A show that I am quite fond of....
Things I didn't like... the use of a "life coach". They didn't force more clothes to be thrown out. The inclusion of a cheesy celebrity designer cameo to give the fashion victim an outfit... and one of them was a designer that was part of Project Runway (season three when they went to France). Also, they made the person strut back and forth in each outfit too much.... AND, the top 10 list of items that someone needs isn't adjusted for each person. How is a trenchcoat a must have? Coat, of course... the list was too constricting.
Gunn often sounded like he had a stick up his ass. "I just don't know about this" was a phrase he kept using that just wasn't working --- I miss the Tim Gunn of Project Runway - "Make it Work!"
Hands down, What Not to Wear is better.
As I have mentioned earlier, I want HBO & SHOWTIME!!! Maybe it is time to splurge and upgrade our cable package.... I just finished watching the Season 3 Finale of The L Word (which was REALLY GOOD) and was looking forward to starting Season 4, but Netflix isn't releasing it until October.... AND, I am very quickly going to be behind with Weeds as well.....
Tonight, the new season of Weeds starts. I am about halfway through Season Two on Netflix, which just got released in late July. I'm having so much fun watching The 4400 every Sunday night. I wish I could watch Weeds and The L Word weekly as well.
Well, I guess its not all bad. I should really be studying, so I guess its good thing that there aren't too many shows I watch on a weekly basis. The 4400 and Greys Anatomy... that's about it now that Gilmore Girls is over. {TEAR}
After all the recent season and series finales, what are you watching on TV these days?
SUCH AN EASY QUESTION!!! The 4400 just came back on. Yeah! And Biggest Loser is about to start again too!
